Sofía Poblete Hernández is a Bioinformatics Engineer at the Di Genoma Lab who graduated from the University of Talca in 2022 with a degree in Bioinformatics. Her research interests are focused on various fields, including Comparative Genomics, Phylogenetics, Evolutionary Biology, Metagenomics, ancient genomics, and cancer. Sofia has always been passionate about exploring how organisms evolve and adapt to their environment. She is dedicated to leveraging bioinformatics tools and techniques to understand the intricate mechanisms that underlie biological diversity.
Throughout her academic and professional career, Sofia has participated in various research projects that have allowed her to develop various skills and expertise. During her internships, she worked on projects related to molecular dynamics, models of the spread of infections, and Genome Dynamics. Her experience in these areas has given her a unique perspective on the interplay between genomics and evolutionary biology, as well as the complex relationship between pathogens and their hosts.
At the Di Genoma Lab, Sofia works on various projects related to Comparative Genomics, Phylogenetics, and Evolutionary Biology, including research focused on cancer. She is passionate about exploring how genetic variation can contribute to the development and progression of cancer. With her expertise in a range of bioinformatics techniques and a deep commitment to advancing our understanding of complex biological systems, Sofia is a key member of the Di Genoma Lab team.
